I have decided that MT sucks and that I can't live with it any longer. So all Ruby and Rails studies will have to be put on hold while I upgrade to WordPress.
MT SUCKS!!
Ok, that isn't really fair. MT was pretty nice on my old server, but the new server is kinda slow and the rebuilds take forever. So... Goodbye MT, you served me well.
Damn it!! Someone slipped the Kool-Aid into my Dr. Pepper can!
I did about 2 or 3 hours of reading over the last couple of days... at most... on Ruby and Rails. Last night, late, I found a cool how-to for many to many in Rails which was the last piece of my puzzle.
So, today, I got home from work, sat down in front of the computer and two hours later (including a 20 minute interruption from Scott), I have my first Rails webapp. It isn't anything glorious, and in its current state it will never make it to the web, but it works. The only real work left to be done is cleaning up the UI. Rails did all of the hard work for me.
So... I am hooked. No more Spring. No more Hibernate (not that I used Hibernate anyway). No more Struts. The game was over before the other team even got warmed up.
Next up will be Lucene integration and security (user logins and what not).
